 Biography

Dr. Weiguo Zhang obtained MD in 1983 and then worked as a clinical physician in cardiovascular medicine. After getting his PhD in 1992, he had postdoctoral training at Gothenburg University and Karolina Institute in Sweden in physiology and pharmacology. From 1997-2005, he was appointed as a faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Texas and directed hypertension research laboratory. From 2005-2007, he worked as principal scientist at Guidant Corporation/Boston Scientific. From 2008-2011, he worked as founding manager of cardiovascular research program at NRC, Nestle. From 2011-2013, he was the director of nutrition science and advocacy at DSM for greater China. In 2013, he became chief scientific officer at Nutricia Early Life Nutrition in Shanghai. He rejoined DSM in 2015. He has published over 50 scientific articles in English and over 10 in Chinese. He now serves as guest professor in two universities.

His research interest spans from biomedical and pharmacological to nutritional fields in both academic and industrial settings.
