 Biography

Dr. Sushrut Arora completed his B.V.Sc.&A.H. in 2002 from College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, MHOW, India. He did his M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Public Heath from College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Mathura, India, where he worked on developing rapid methods for detection of foodborne pathogens and was recipient of the University Merit Scholarship. Later he was trained at a BSL-3+ laboratory where he worked on molecular- and immuno-detection of different pathogens, such as avian influenza virus, bovine immunodeficiency virus and anthrax. He finished his Ph.D. from Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland in 2011. During Ph.D., he was recipient of Postgraduate Research Scholarship under Postgraduate Research Scholarship Scheme of the Embark Initiative of the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET), Ireland and worked on development of antibody-based strategies for detection of sub-clinical mastitis. Thereafter, he joined Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), Houston, USA and worked on antibody characterization for their catalytic potential for therapeutic targeting. Subsequently, at Rice University, Houston, USA, he studied the role of a short secreted cytokine in cornea development using chicken model. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Associate at Baylor College of Medicine and working on developing novel diagnostics for Ureaplasma and Group B Streptococci. He has published extensively including a textbook, book chapters, research articles and invited reviews.

His research interest includes Diagnostics – PCR-based diagnostics, Immunodiagnostics, Antibody generation, characterization and engineering, Antibody-based biosensors, Bacterial infections,Food Microbiology,Zoonosis.
