 Biography

Since 1991 Prof. Dr. Daniel H. Scorsetti has had an acknolegded, uninterrupted career in teaching and research, working in many prestigious Universities in America and Europe.


Having published more than 500 articles in many reputed international journals, he is also author and co-authour of several specialized Ophtalmology books. All his passion and full time dedication in the improvement of the Anterior Segment research has signifficantly contributed worldwide to this field.


Graduating in Medicine with honors at Universidad del Salvador (USAL), Buenos Aires, Argentina, proceeded afterwards on doing his full time residency at the Ophtalmological Argentinian Foundation „Jorge Malbrán“ also in Buenos Aires.


Obtaining his degree as Doctor in Medicine in 1992 and as Professor in Medicine in 1993 by USAL, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has kept up with his true passion moving to USA, where he attended his Fellowship in Anterior Segment in 1993-1994 in the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He was awarded with the prize of Best Cornea fellow presentation“, by Castroviejo Cornea Society in USA.


Prominent Titular Professor of the Ophtalmology Chair, USAL, from 1995 until nowadays, he achieved the degree as medical advisor by the Pan American Association of Eye Banks in 1996. Also named director of the International Ocular Surgery course of USAL, Faculty of Medicine in 1996.


Prof. Dr. Scorsetti was awarded with the Best scientific project prize in 1996 by the Argentinian Society of Ophtalmology. Noted speaker and educator in the Ophtalmolology Panamerican Course , Southern Cone.


Founding member of the International Society of Ocular Surface in 1999. He served as evaluator of the Archives of the Spanish Society Ophtalmology Review 2001-2004. Achieving his Medicine and Doctor in Medicine degree recognition, by the Education and Science Ministry, Spain, both in 2004. He served as Medical Director or the Vissum Ophtalmology Institute in Spain during 2004-2005.


His full time dedication to the Anterior Segment field got him commisioned as a Board member of the Pan American Association of Ophtalmology of Eye Banks Directors.


Determined to improve as well the Ophtalmology research in his beloved country, he decided to become a member of the Council Asessment of the Argentinian Clinical and experimental Ophtalmology Society in 2007. He also served as President of the Argentinian Society of Cornea, Cataract and Refractive surgery (SACRYC) 2007-2008.


Prof Dr. Scorsetti is a prominent wet lab instructor of corneal and ocular surface severe diseases, Annual Meeting, which belongs to the American Academy of Ophtalmology AAO , since 2008 until nowadays.Decorated with the Achievement Honor and international education Award, both in 2010, by the AAO and international scholar award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2012.


He is a distinguished member of the Pancornea Board, Panamerican Cornea Society 2013 until nowadays. Playing an important role as Assitant professor of Ophtalmology at the University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.


Working closely with the investigation difusion he got himself as an editorial board member of the open journal magazine of Ophtalmolgy (OOJ) 2016.


All his long trajectory has allowed him to be invited as Guest Professor in numerous international congresses as speaker. Determined on contributing to improve the medical field, specifically in his passion, Ophtalmology, he has been a full time researcher in all possible ways, not only improving already existing tecniques, but also discovering new ones.


 Research Interest

His research interest focuses around ocular anterior segment phisiology, pharmacology and surgery.


His specific interests are :
1) Cataract surgery and intraocular lenses implantation.
2) Corneal transplantation
3) Dry eye and ocular surface diseases

5) Refractive Surgery
