 Biography

Dr. Sandler is an Extension Assistant Professor in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Sandler has been an Associate Editor for Weed Science since 2009. Dr. Sandler received her Ph.D in Plant and Soil Sciences from UMass-Amherst in 2004, her M.S. in Plant Pathology from University of Delaware in 1983 and her B.S. in Biology and Environmental Science from University of Pennsylvania in 1981. She has served as President of the Northeastern Weed Science Society and is currently Secretary for the Weed Science Society of America. Dr. Sandler is the Integrated Pest Management Coordinator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 Research Interest

Her research interests include biology and management of dodder and perennial weed species, such as poison ivy and Rubus species, which invade cranberry production areas. New research areas include the exploration of novel methods of application technology and using unmanned aerial vehicles for monitoring pests on specialty crop farms. Her recent outreach efforts include the editing and publication of a 293-page Weed Identification Guide for Cranberry.
