 Biography

Xiaokun Geng, MD, MS, an Associate Professor of Neurology, currently serves as the Chairman in Department of Neurology, and Director of Stroke Center in Beijing Luhe Hospital at Capital Medical University, China. Dr. Geng received his Medical Degree at Hebei Medical University and his Master in Neuroscience and Neurology at Capital Medical University. Dr. Geng then had his postdoctoral training at Wayne State University School of Medicine and proceeded to join the faculty at Capital Medical University. Dr. Geng is currently a member of the American Heart Association Stroke Council, the Society for Neuroscience (USA), National Stroke Society (China), and International Society for Aging and Disease. Dr. Geng hold a joint appointment as a Visiting Professor in Department of Neurosurgery, Wayne State University School of Medicine.


His expertise as a clinician and researcher in neurology, biochemical sciences and neurosciences has led Dr. Geng to profound advances and conclusions with translational studies in stroke and endovascular therapies. Dr. Geng has published 35 peer-reviewed articles, as well as book chapters. He has received numerous awards and grants for his outstanding research and clinical work.

 Research Interest

His research interest includes Ischemia/reperfusion injury, endovascular therapy, stroke, neuroprotection, exercise, preconditioning, rehabilitation, brain metabolism, hibernation-like therapy, hypothermia, cell death, blood brain barrier.
