His Main research interest Lung cancer, is one of the most common cancers in terms of incidence and mortality around the world. Tumor microenvironment is pivotal for progression and metastasis of most known cancer types. Within the established microenvironment, tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are one of the most abundant and crucial non-neoplastic cell types. Hereby, the polarization of macrophages into tumor-suppressive M1- or tumor-promoting M2-macrophages is the fundamental event within the establishment of the tumor-surrounding microenvironment. Therefore, my main research interest is to develop anti-cancer therapeutic approaches targeting tumor stroma with special attention to investigate epigenetic mechanisms of macrophages polarization and re-education of TAMs.
