 Biography

Prof. A.K. Srivastava Director and Vice-Chancellor, National Dairy Research Institute (Deemed University), Karnal, is graduate and postgraduate of Veterinary College Mathura. He obtained Ph.D. from PAU Ludhiana and Post Doctorate fellowship from Institute of Toxicology, Munchen, Germany. He has been decorated with numerous prestigious awards and honours including ICAR Jawaharlal Nehru Award; International NOCIL Award; “National Alarsin Award”; Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraskar, Indira Gandhi Excellence Award; German Academic Exchange Fellowship, Gold Medals of Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Association of Science and Technology, Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology and Bhoomi Nirman Award. He has been conferred the “Life Time Achievement Award” by Society for Community Mobilization for Sustainable Development and also by CLFMA India. He has also received the Chellappa Memorial Oration Award and Dr. Rao Memorial Oration Award. In 2013, he also received “Agriculture Leadership Award” from Agriculture Today and “Education Leadership Award” from Dewang Mehta Foundation. Prof. Srivastava is President of National Academy of Dairy Science, President of Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology and also the President of Probiotic Association of India. He is Chairman Indian Dairy Association (NZ); Chairman of Sub-group of Planning Commission Advisory Committee on processing and value addition of milk and milk products; Chairman, FAD 19, Bureau of Indian Standard Committee and member Food and Agriculture Division Council, BIS, Govt. of India.

Prof. Anil Kumar Srivastava is distinguished fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, fellow of National Academy of Dairy Sciences, fellow of Indian Association for Advancement of Veterinary Research, fellow of Society of Toxicology, Society of Environmental Sciences, Society of Sciences, International Society for Ecological Communications and Member of National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad. He is Member Board of Governing Council of “Agriculture Skill Council of India”, Governing Board Member of Punjab Livestock Development Board and Rajasthan Livestock Mission, and Member Governing Board of National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, DBT, Govt. of India.

Professor Srivastava was also Secretary of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi, President of Indian Agricultural Universities Association, Member, DBT Task Force on “Biotechnological Approaches for Food and Nutritional Security: and also Member Task Force on “Animal Biotechnology-I”. He was Founder chief Editor, Indian Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology; Councilor, Punjab Academy of Sciences and Member, J&K Council of Science and Technology.Before assuming the office of Director, National Dairy Research Institute, Prof. Srivastava was Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, followed by Director Resident Instructions and Dean Postgraduate Studies at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu (J&K); he was Head, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at PAU, Ludhiana. He has guided more than 20 M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. students. He has authored 8 books, 10 Policy Papers and Status Papers, edited 8 books and published more than 200 research papers in journals of international repute. Presently Dr. A.K. Srivastava is engaged in research management in dairy science and providing leadership for National Dairy Research and Education for overall dairy development in country.
