Dr. Afzal Azim is professor in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow- India. Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) is a premier tertiary care 900 bedded referral centre in North India. He completed his MBBS (IGMC-Shimla, India), MD Anaesthesiology & Intensive care (1999-PGIMER Chandigarh, India), PDCC- Neuroanesthesia (2000-SGPGIMS, Lucknow, India). Clinical fellow in Intensive care from Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia (2007-2008). More than 14 years of clinical experience in intensive care. His Academic Activities are Examiner for PDCC (Post-Doctoral Certificate Course in Critical Care) and DNB exit exam for critical care fellowship, Reviewer for abstracts for SCCM yearly congress, Faculty for Foundation course- SGPGIMS resident doctors, M.D Thesis evaluator. Course director for infection control programme for nurses and paramedical staff at SGPGIMS. He is reviewer for Respiratory care, Research Society of Anesthesiology and Clinical Pharmacology, Indian Journal of Critical Care Medicine, Medicine, HSR proceedings in Intensive Care and Cardiovascular Anesthesia, Journal of Laboratory Physicians.
