 Biography

Dr Craig Peck is a general Dental Surgeon, who’s worked previously in private practice in London for many years and now is Clinical Supervisor/Lecturer in the Restorative/Conservative Dentistry Department at UWC Dental Faculty. I consider myself a good generalist, with a strong emphasis on a minimally invasive conservative approach. I am actively involved with the education and clinical training of dental students from their second year to final year, as well as juggling the treatment of my own patients at the faculty. I obtained my B.Med.Sc (Medical Virology and Medical Physiology – with distinction) and B.Ch.D. degrees from Stellenbosch University in 1994 and 1997 respectively, having received the Gold Medal from the Dental Association of South Africa for highest achievement upon graduation, passing Clinical Dentistry with distinction. I also received the 3M Medal for Radiology, the Periodontology Association of South Africa’s Medal for Periodontics and awards for highest achievement in Dental Materials, Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine. I am currently enrolled for an M.Phil degree in Health Professions Education with Stellenbosch University, in order to ensure that my educational contributions to my students are optimal and effective.

I am as passionate about education as I am about Dentistry and only hope that my enthusiasm for the science will inspire and motivate my students to be the best clinicians they can be. An important aspect which is vital for the future success of any health-care professional is continued education in one’s field and I am honoured to be an Editorial Board member of Scientia Ricerca.
