Dr. Muhammad Khan received his doctoral degree in Cell Biology/Cancer Chemical Biology from School of Genetics and Cytology, Northeast Normal University Changchun, China in 2012. During his doctoral degree program, he identified and isolated several anticancer natural compounds from Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbs and investigated their molecular mechanisms. Dr. Khan published 8 research articles as 1st author during his doctoral degree program and got incentive research award of 30,000 RMB from Jilin University. After obtaining doctoral degree, Dr. Khan served as Assistant Professor in Department of Zoology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan from September 4, 2012 to February 28, 2014. He was awarded Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Lab of Molecular Biomedicines, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) under the World Academy of Science, in 2014. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor in Department of Zoology, University of the Punjab Lahore and Associate Professor in College of Basic Medical Sciences of Dalian Medical University, Dalian, China. He was awarded certificate of Excellence for research productivity for 2016 by DMU. Targeting deregulated cell signaling pathways in cancer cells with natural small molecules and exploiting biochemical properties of cancer cells for selective killing of cancer cells is the main focus of Dr. Khan’s current research. 40 published scientific research articles, one book and a book chapter. His work has been cited over 800 times in various world renowned journals. He is the recipient of 4 funded research grants.
