Dr. Omotoye received his Ph.D. in Economics from Saint Petersburg State University of Finance and Economics University, Russia—one of Russia’s premier institutions of higher learning. His range of work experiences span teaching both in the United States and Thailand, editorial at the United Nations as an editor/freelance writer at the Yearbook Section of the United Nations, and financial services as Financial Analyst/Branch Supervisor at World Financial Group Securities.
His educational background in the former Soviet Union and diverse range of teaching experiences in the United States and Thailand stand him out as a unique scholar, who is very knowledgeable about practices and events that drive international financial markets—particularly those of developed economies, emerging market economies, and developing countries. He is also fluent in Russian and has taught Russian language at Hampton University and Virginia State University. In 2009, he was awarded a Fulbright fellowship by the United States Department of Education.
He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented scholarly papers at numerous conferences. He is a recipient of USDA grants and serves as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator of awarded grants.
Dr. Omotoye is currently an associate Professor at the College of Agriculture, Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia, where he teaches a variety of courses in agricultural and financial economics and serves as Coordinator of the Agribusiness program in the Department of Agriculture. He also teaches as Visiting/Guest Professor at Ramkhamhaeng University, Bangkok, Thailand.
His research interests include analysis focusing on emerging and transitional economies, financial transparency, agricultural entrepreneurship, economic and financial issues affecting agriculture in developing countries, economic development issues facing developing countries, and related areas.
