Dr. Coyne graduated with a DVM degree from Colorado State University in 1981 and was accepted into a surgery internship program at the University of California at Davis. Graduate research training was received between 1982 and 1986 in nuclear medicine and radiopharmacology in the laboratories of Drs. Sally and Gerald DeNardo at the University of California School of Medicine, Sacramento Medical Center which a PhD degree conferred in 1986. A residency in internal medicine was completed between 1985 and 1987 from the University of California at Davis. In 1987 Dr. Coyne was accepted as an Assistant Professor in internal medicine and pharmacology research in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University between. Internal medicine board certification was awarded in 1992 at which time he joined the faculty of College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University in the Department of Basic Sciences at an Associate Professor of Pharmacology. Dr. Coyne was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2006 and his primary active field of investigation is devoted to the design of the molecular structure and organic chemistry reactions in synthesis regimens for covalent immunotherapeutics with properties of selective “targeted†delivery and potent anti-neoplastic properties. Dr. Coyne has published over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts, written the first comprehensive description of diagnostic pharmacology, and current serves at the editor for a member of the editorial board for approximately 11 peer-reviewed oncology/chemotherapy/pharmacology oriented journals.
