Massimo Giangaspero, DVM, MSc, PhD, has about 30 years of experience in veterinary medicine at national and international levels. He is professor of emerging infectious diseases, post-graduate course, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Teramo, Italy. Currently, actively involved in advisory and capacity building activities on scientific research planning, support and training on epidemiology, surveillance and animal diseases control programs, strengthening diagnostic capacity for diseases surveillance, development of surveillance systems, strengthening of international collaborative network, focused on major animal infectious disease and zoonoses. Research activities mainly focuses on veterinary public health, animal health, epidemiology, virology and genetic. He is author of about 150 papers published on international journals. Institutional activities include strengthening of sanitary veterinary authorities in the framework of EU/FAO/WHO technical assistance.
