 Biography

Dr. Kamesh R Ayasolla was a scientist and a researcher working currently at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at North well Health, Long Island, New York. His past/current job assignments include training the neonatal ICU Fellows in training as well to work with neonatal attendees working on broad range of topics including hyperoxia/hypoxic issues of the lungs, heart and the brain. In addition to job requirements in neonatology, he do perform a little of work on nephrology related research, addressing diabetic and HIV podocytopathies as well.
He have over 30 years’ research experience in the areas of Neurobiology, Nephrology and Cancer Biology. Prior to joining the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in 2011, he held positions at The Department of Chemistry, Joseph Sagol Neuroscience Center, Tel-Hashomer Hospital (Bar-Illan University, Ramat Gan 52900, and at CBME, University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal and earlier at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, USA where he worked on neuroinflammatory issues in Alzheimer’s dementia, preeclampsia and IUGR. His past mentors include Prof.Ephraim Yavin and Prof. David Givol at the Weizmann Institute for Science, Rehovot, Israel.

 Research Interest

Dr. Kamesh R Ayasolla interests are primarily focused on neuroscience and related topics with particular emphasis on neuroscience and neuroinflammation research; and that include microglial biology, neurons-glial interactions; neuronal cell growth and survival, metabolomics of disease (lipidomics) with particular interests in sphingomyelin –ceramide cascades; and generation of complex gangliosides and their role in stem cell differentiation; synapse-, synaptic plasticity, biology of LTP and LTD etc.
